Message from the Principal

Dear IAS Families,

As the final moments of the 2009-2010 school year are ticking away, it presents us with an opportunity to look back over our shoulder and reflect on all we’ve accomplished together. Once again, the joint efforts of many hands have provided our children with the guidance and opportunities to make successful choices both academically and socially. With the launch of our F.R.I.E.N.D.S. program, our children have learned the language of respect along with the tools to handle social situations effectively. Thanks to the funding provided through the IAS PTO, we were able to purchase grade level literature in support of the program and will be able to expand our offerings in 2010-2011. One of the events I’m most proud of was the success of our Pajama Program. Families donated 320 pairs of new pajamas and books, representing each and every IAS student, just in time for giving during the holidays. In February, students handcrafted and filled Boxes of Love. All items were donated to a school in Hartford. Recently, students organized a fundraiser in support of the animals involved in the oil disaster. Thank you to third graders Kaitlyn and Grace for spearheading this event along with members of my student council. These are but some of the moments in time I’m most thankful to have been a part of.

To my student council…I will miss your enthusiasm and spirit! I look forward to hearing about the good things you’ll do at Brown.

I wish you all the best summer has to offer, time with family and close friends, sunshine, and time to enjoy all the important things life has to offer us.

I look forward to coming together again in the fall of 2010. Have a safe and relaxing summer….

Kathy A. Nutley
