Dear Parents,
Happy spring! Please note what we have been learning about:
Writing- We’ve been writing a new story each week, peer editing and revising and sharing them.
Math: Our next math subject is analyzing 3 dimensional shapes. This includes seeing objects from different directions, making 3D shapes, relating solid shapes to nets, investigating properties of 3D shapes and exploring the concept of volume. We will begin multiplication mad minutes after the break.
Science- We have finished our unit on states of matter and are kicking off the adaptations to habitats unit with a visit from high touch high tech. We will be creating an animal adaptations book in the computer lab using Microsoft Publisher. This assignment involves researching an animal and how they have adapted to their environment and writing from the animal’s point of view. We are also reading about different animal adaptations in guided reading. Students will create their own plant based on the adaptations they’ve learned about. We will research an array of habitats, create books and make a biome in a box.
